“I would like not only to be able to help as many people as possible discover the river, but also to reach a second 'step', that is, to be able to create a sort of collaboration with the 'hill'. People come to see the river and that's fine, but then we should also make them understand what the area around the river can offer. It would be wonderful to navigate the river and offer tourists the chance to discover the Oltrepò and vice versa, because nowadays we talk about Oltrepò Pavese and we only associate it with the hilly territory: no one, however, associates the Oltrepò with the river Po, even though the latter is such an important component that generates the name of the territory itself – Oltrepò means 'Beyond the Po'. Both in terms of navigation, but also in terms of catering on the riverbank, we have much more customers who come from Pavese rather than, for example, from Stradella which is here 5 minutes away by road. All this because the Po, for those who live in Oltrepò, is seen only as dirty water, whirlpools and catfish. Fortunately, this is not the case, but unfortunately this is a deeply rooted cliché.”
